Mary-Claire O’Regan

Interim Director of Operations & Clinical Trials

Mary-Claire O’Regan joined the staff of the Clinical Research Facility in September 2014 as centre manager but has been a member of the management team since July 2013, representing the EU-FP7 funded SENATOR Clinical Research Trial project based at UCC’s Department of Medicine. Mary-Claire is responsible for the day to day operational management of the HRB CRF-UCC in particular HRB CRF-UCC interactions with research funders and stakeholders and corporate UCC (HR, Finance, OCLA and OVPRI etc.).

Mary-Claire brings 10+ years of experience in the management and administration of large, multi-centre, multi-partner, multi-national research, collaboration and infrastructure projects with a working knowledge of EU Commission funded programmes and the research funding agencies in Ireland.

Prior to joining the Department of Medicine, Mary-Claire worked in the Tyndall National Institute, one of Europe’s leading research centres in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the largest research facility of its type in Ireland. At Tyndall, Mary-Claire was the Centre Manager for the Micro-Nano Centre (70+ people) and administered a research portfolio of c.30M€.

Mary-Claire is a previous recipient of the UCC Research Support Person of the Year award. A programme which was established to recognise UCC staff who have made exceptional and very influential research contributions, pushing boundaries, enhancing knowledge, and raising the national and international research profile of the University.

Mary-Claire holds an Honours degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology and Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work from University College Dublin.
