Fionnuala McAuliffe is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at National Maternity Hospital Dublin. She graduated from UCD in 1991 and following initial training in Dublin, moved to the UK. At King’s College Hospital, London she did a fellowship in fetal medicine and subsequently undertook maternal and fetal subspecialisation at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada.S
Professor McAuliffe returned to UCD and the National Maternity Hospital in 2004 where she is the Director of the maternal and fetal medicine subspecialisation programme and clinical lead for the maternal medicine services. She is the Head of Women’s and Child’s Health and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCD, and Fellow at UCD Conway Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Science. She holds fellowships at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists UK.
Her research interests centre on prenatal diagnosis and prenatal ultrasound, diabetes and nutrition in pregnancy. She is also experienced at conducting RCTs. Professor McAuliffe’s research is supported by grants from Health Research Board Ireland and the European Union.
